James Suffield Joins the NMS Team as Vessel Manager
NMS - Nautical Management Services are thrilled to welcome James Suffield as our new Vessel Manager.
He joins the team with 20 years of experience in commercial shipping, including command experience as Master on board newbuild dynamically positioned flotels, operating within the offshore sector in the North Sea, Mediterranean, Asia and South America. James is qualified to the level of Master Mariner Unlimited, additionally specialising in Dynamic Positioning with further experience as an Offshore Installation Manager.
During his time as Master, James was responsible for ensuring ISM compliance, successful Flag State registration and operational readiness of two newbuild 500 passenger flotels, which was a challenging but rewarding project. This project resulted in him becoming responsible for the reactivation and operational readiness of a large dynamically positioned flotel, from cold stack to operations, during the unprecedented challenges brought about by COVID in 2020 and 2021.
Moving ashore in 2021, James has gained experience not only as a Marine Superintendent, preparing works and overseeing large towage operations of oil and gas platforms, but also as a Marine Quality Assurance Specialist. The role of Marine Quality Assurance Specialist included the compliance vetting of vessels being utilised for advanced offshore operations, as well as ISM compliance reviews of shipping companies, vessel audits and subject matter expert reviews post incident or near miss events.
