DIRECTOR
DAVID ORMSTON
David joined our team in 2017 as a qualified Chief Engineer unlimited with over 30 years’ experience on a variety of vessels and super yachts.
Moving ashore in 2003 he has built up extensive shore ISM technical management experience with employment in the positions of Fleet and Technical Manager, responsible for developing, implementing and ensuring vessel compliance with ISM on both superyachts and commercial vessels.
David, who holds a Masters degree in International Commercial Law, has vast experience in the role of Technical Manager having overseen planned maintenance systems, refit and drydock specifications and emergency repairs for hundreds of vessels.
Having been based for three years in the UAE, David has gained extensive vessel management, hull and machinery casualty experience and condition surveys, along with office and vessel audits throughout the region working with some of the world’s largest marine insurance companies and is a registered Flag State and ISM Surveyor.
David is the company’s Designated Person Ashore and Company Security Officer.

ANDY
CALDERBANK
Andy started his maritime career in Sail Training over 20 years ago before going on to gain experience onboard superyachts and more recently within offshore energy where he spent nearly 10 years managing a large fleet of vessels for one of the leading Crew Transfer Vessel management companies in the UK.
With a strong background in safety management, Andy has experience of designing and implementing management systems to both ISM and ISO standards as well as holding DPA/CSO, Lead Auditor and Accident Investigation certification.

KRIstina hogg
After spending the last 12 years in the superyacht industry Kristina, a former Chief Officer, joins us as Vessel Manager. 
Her love of the ocean and the maritime world began as a child in the north of England, where she sailed with her grandfather on a yacht that he’d built himself.
Since then, Kristina’s seafaring career has taken her to the Norwegian Fjords, the Caribbean and throughout the Mediterranean, on both charter and private motor yachts ranging from 37 to 63 metres.  
 
Kristina is looking forward to the new challenge of supporting vessels from a shoreside perspective and hopes to bring value to the team with the experience she has gained from years at sea.

Chris Easterbrook
Growing up by the sea and the Lake District, Chris has always enjoyed being on and around the water. His love for the ocean led him to pursue a career at sea, starting straight out of school at sixteen and working on a variety of commercial vessels, from surveys to VLCC’s.
This eventually led him to a long fulfilling career in the yachting sector. Over the years Chris has been lucky enough to visit some of the most beautiful places on the planet, from the South Pacific to the Indian Ocean to the fjords of Norway, and every varied corner of the Mediterranean.
As of 2013 Chris sailed as Chief Officer on yachts of 80m plus, but recently decided it was time to come ashore for the next step in his career. He is very excited for his future at West Nautical, bringing his experience and skills to the company and clients alike.

OKSANA HUNTINGDON
Originally from Brest, Belarus, Oksana graduated with an interpreting and translating degree in 2007 in Minsk, with English language as her major. Additionally, she studied German and Spanish languages for three years, bringing a wealth of significant international experience and language skills to the NMS team.
In 2008 she moved to Saint-Petersburg and began a career as an interpreter, giving her the opportunity to work for large companies on multiple projects in the automotive, construction and manufacturing industries for a total of six years.
In 2014, Oksana moved to the North East of England where she started a family and helped to run the family business.
Working closely within our vessel management team, Oksana assists with communication between our Russian clients and also translates any vessel and project management reports and documents into Russian as required.

Kate-Lynne joined NMS as Crew Recruiter and Crew Assistant following nine years at sea, having worked her way up from Junior Stewardess to Purser on some very well-known vessels, both private and charter.
She brings a wealth of experience to our Crew Recruitment department, having experienced first-hand how important it is to match the right crew member with the correct vessel, and vice-versa.
Kate-Lynne is based in the Western Cape, South Africa where she is now raising a little boy who is a yacht captain in the making!
She thrives on using her experience to place individuals within fantastic positions, whether they are embarking on their very first yacht, or are progressing to the next stage in their career at sea.

SARAH DIGGLE WHITLOCK
Sarah has worked in the fast-paced world of yachting for over 25 years, securing her first chief stewardess position after just three months. Fast forward 10 years, and Sarah had completed eight Atlantic crossings and worked on board some of the world’s most prestigious motor and sailing yachts, both private and charter.
Following her time at sea, Sarah moved ashore to the South of France where she remained in the industry, working as a yacht manager, senior recruiter and a charter broker assistant. Alongside, she freelanced as a teacher, training new crew members in superyacht courses both on board, in maritime schools internationally, and in private homes and islands, specialising in luxury hospitality to high-net-worth individuals.
This wide breadth of experience has equipped Sarah with a multi-faceted skillset and an extensive industry contact list, with whom she has created, and maintains, long- term relationships.

GEMMA IRWIN
Gemma has 15 years of experience working within the commercial shipping industry in an office-based role for a Maritime Classification Society, ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) as an Administrative Coordinator for operations. Her role was integral to cross-departmental communication to worldwide clients and colleagues, where she actively participated with internal and external audits, office compliance and health and safety.
Originally from the Northeast of England, Gemma has lived in Rutland, Belfast and Cyprus. It was in Cyprus in 2005 where she continued her education in Clerical and IT to pursue a career in administration. She returned to the Northeast in 2008 when she began her career in the maritime industry.

SARAH MACKENZIE
Sarah, originally from South Africa, began a successful career at sea at the age of 18 and spent a total of eight years working on superyachts ranging from 35 to 85 meters cruising in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Maldives.
She holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Public Relations Management and has years of experience in her native country working for large PR companies. Sarah knows the maritime industry inside out and adds a wealth of knowledge and skills to the NMS team.

REBECCA
KENNERELY
Before joining NMS, Bex spent five years working within the yachting industry on 50-80m private and charter yachts. She worked on board the renowned explorer, and West Nautical managed yacht, Game Changer, during its first re-fit in the Netherlands, and was also on board during the vessel’s first visit to Antarctica.
Bex travelled the world on yachts, working her way up to the position of Relief Chief Stewardess. On her return to the UK she opened up her own business, and while it has thrived for the last few years, she has decided to return to the exciting world of yachting. When she’s not at work, Bex loves cooking and hiking.

KAY SMALL
With seven years of human resources and customer service experience under her belt, Kay joins the West Nautical team as our new Office Manager. Her previous roles in the automotive and building industries leave her well-poised to deal with the fast-paced environment of yachting, where she will now oversee all daily operations of the West Nautical office.
She will be working directly with the company’s employees and contractors in the UK and globally, ensuring all clients, team members and visitors are well looked after.
Very much a family-oriented individual, in her spare time Kay loves watching her two children play football and enjoys holidays abroad, experiencing all of the different culture and cuisines they have to offer.
